Finishing Work
Stump Grinding
Stump grinding removes a leftover stump by grinding it below grade so the area can be replanted, sodded, or reclaimed.

After a tree is removed, the stump is often left behind. Stump grinding reduces it below ground level so the space can be planted, sodded over, or used again.
Grinding depth is set to the plan for the space — deeper if you intend to replant, shallower if you only need it level. The grindings can be left as mulch or hauled away.
01The Process
What to expect, step by step.
- 01
Check the site
The area is checked for irrigation, utilities, and access before grinding.
- 02
Grind below grade
The stump is ground below ground level to suit how you plan to use the space.
- 03
Finish
Grindings are leveled as mulch or removed, as you prefer.
A stump ground below grade, with the area ready to replant, sod, or reclaim.
02Questions
About stump grinding.
Does stump grinding remove the whole root system?
Stump grinding removes the stump and major surface roots below grade. The deeper root system decays naturally over time and is not fully extracted.
